Math in Focus
Fort Zumwalt has adopted the Math in Focus curriculum for math instruction. This approach to teaching and learning math involves critical thinking and solving problems in many different ways. The students enjoy the hands on activities and Math in Focus also aligns well with our MO State Standards. Here is the instructional sequence for First Grade Math. If you would like to understand our district's choice in this material, check out our district website. The students truly enjoy this "new way" of learning math!Pre-Tests and Post Tests
For each chapter in Math in Focus, we are taking the final chapter test before and after the material is presented. We are doing this to show growth in student knowledge of the material. Each student is tracking this progress in their Leadership Notebook. We are also tracking our progress as a class. Each test has 25 points possible. We want to see how many students score 22 points out of 25 on the pre-test and on the post test of the same chapter. The data shown below are scores only for our classroom. We sure are learning a lot this year!Pre & Post Test Scores | ||
